Helena Bakić

Project assistant

 

Helena Bakić was born 1989 in Zadar, and she completed primary and secondary schooling in Zagreb. In 2007, she enrolled in the undergraduate and in 2010 in the graduate psychology program at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. She graduated in 2012, on the topic of empowering female survivors of intimate partner violence. During the study she won two scholarships from the University Fund for Gifted Students. In 2014, she enrolled in the doctoral psychology program at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Since 2013, she has been working as a project assistant on an the EU funded project „Operationalising Psychosocial Support in Crisis“ (OPSIC), under the mentorship of professor  Dean Ajduković. The goal of the project is development of an operational guidance system to aid crisis managers in all phases of disaster response. She is participating in conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of long-term effects of disasters. Since 2013, she has been in training for counselling and she provides psychological counselling. She also completed a workshop on meta-analysis. She participated in the 2nd and 3rd Science Picnic, where Department of Psychology presented some scientific findings in psychology in a fun and popular manner.

The main area of research interests are psychosocial consequences of disasters, especially in the community context. In this are she is particularly interested in community resilience, which will be the main topic of her doctoral dissertation.

She completed the training for psychological counselling in 2013, tha has been provided by the Society for Psychological Assistance, where she volunteers as a councillor.
