Dragutin Ivanec, PhD

Professor

 

Born in 1965 in Kladare. Undergraduate degree in psychology received at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb in 1989. At the same faculty received master (1994) and Ph.D. degree (2002). Elected as associate professor in 2010. As a guest lecturer taught at several universities: Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, School of Safety Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek, Department of Psychology University of Zadar. He was a mentor of 70 graduate thesis and 5 doctoral dissertations. He was a main researcher of a national scientific research project. He participated at the fifty international and national scientific and professional meetings. Until now published thirty scientific papers, contributions in four books in the field of health psychology and two professional studies. He is a co-author of the Statistics textbook which has been awarded with a Zoran Bujas prize as particularly valuable book of the year (2012). Since 1990 until the 2003 was secretary of the journal Review of Psychology, and was a guest editor in two volumes of this journal dedicated to the contextual effects in psychology. He was a teacher at the international summer school.

Scientific research interests are linked to areas of sensory and cognitive psychology (the effect of stimulus context on sensation, perception and reaction time; the influence of small amounts of alcohol on perceptual and cognitive functioning). The major area of interest is the role of psychological factors in the modulation of pain perception, especially the role of attention and expectations.
